Interviewed for DC City Paper!

Great things have happened in 2009. KIDS is taking off. Level Up is gonna be huge. Thanks to all the great people who have supported me and my dreams throughout the past year. I couldn't have done it without all of you.

City Paper Article

Ellen Lovelidge, KIDS/Level Up

“At the beginning of 2008 I felt like the dance scene in D.C. was a culture of cliques. There are so many great dance parties in this city, and 12 months ago they all seemed so separate. Everyone had their group of friends and DJs they followed and hardly ventured away from that comfort zone. During the course of the year I feel
like all of the cliques have gradually intertwined and the whole dance and DJ community has come together as one fun-loving group. The promoters and DJs all seem to have the same goal: to throw an amazing party and make sure your audience as a whole has a blast.”

As DJ Lil’ El (lilel.blogspot.com), Lovelidge helps promote KIDS, a hip-hop dance night at DC9, and Level Up, a new electro night at the Red Lounge Bar & Grill.

KIDS This Weekend

Ok so it's been a LOOOONG time since I posted here. Maybe since I'm starting to really get some things moving (pat myself on the back), I'll start updating this more often to let everyone know where to party!

I have a few projects that you all know about like KIDS and Level Up but also have some things up my sleeves for the coming months and am going to make 2009 an amazing year!

So KIDS is this Saturday at DC9

FREE entry before 10
FREE Old English before 10
FREE condoms all night

We were even featured in DCist's 'This Week in Hip-Hop'

Borrowing from the themes of the 1990s movie Kids, DJs Lil' El, Jackie O, Nacey, and Steve Love will be holding a party at DC9 featuring some of that decade's bigger hip-hop hits and various goodies. Free before 10 p.m.

and the Washington Post Going Out Guru's Nightlife Agenda

Okay, complete 180 from holiday generosity: the Kids party returns to DC9 with free malt liquor, free condoms, free entry, and plenty of hip-hop, sleazy electro and whatnot, thanks to guest DJ Meistro of Dirty Bombs (Wonderland) and hosts Jackie O, Nacey, Steve Love (both of the always-excellent Nouveau Riche) and Lil' El. Get there between 9 and 10 for the free booze and free admission, you'll pay $5 after. (Condoms, however, are free all night.)

Come out! Get wild! and have a blast!

Next Friday see you at Red Lounge for Level Up with Spiggy, Matt Nordstrom, Philip Goyette, Sean Gone, and myself!
